Reusable paper fades to white after 24 hours

An interesting idea for reducing office waste.

Xerox’s researchers have created a type of paper that will automatically erase itself after a 24 hour period. The paper itself is sensitive to certain wavelengths of light which changes the color, creating the “print” — no ink or toner is used. The technology is still experimental, but it’s definitely a cool idea.

I could see this being useful as long as people don’t write on the paper and can keep it flat and pristine enough to run through the printer again. Barring that, this would be something really useful in offices (like where I work) which have mentally-challenged office workers zapping hundreds of pages to the printer when the didn’t intend to.
