Bed floats on magnets

The floating magnetic bed
The ultimate in designer chic furniture.

A Dutch inventor combined a bunch of rare earth magnets with a bed and came-up with something cool, but completely un-necessary: the levitating bed.

The magnets, from bakkermagnetics.com suspend the bed off the floor. Small steel cables keep the bed centered above the field and in one place. Hopefully, the steel plate construction of the bed shields your brain from the effects of the extra-strong magnets as well.

It’ll only cost you $1,500,000 to sleep on this wonder of magnetic technology. Note that the site is a poor combination of frames and unlinkable graphic images, so you’ll have to navigate to the magnetic bed section manually.

  1. Just stumbled across this old post … Discussions of “shielding” a magnetic field have no business on a nerd site! Maxwell is turning in his grave!
